"Access Software" is US company that is known primarilly for its adventure and golf games. At first it was developing games for Apple and Commodore 64 systems but later switched to IBM PC. The company created one of the most famous series of the adventure games - Tex Murphy. It was the first company to use RealSound technology which made it possible to produce realistic sound on PC speaker. It was also an enthusiastic supporter of the usage of real photos and videos in games. In 1998 "Access Software" developed and published the history's first game to be released on DVD ("Tex Murphy: Overseer"). In 1999 the company was bought out by "Microsoft" primarilly for its achievements in developing golf games. Due to the demise of the market for adventure games the Tex Murphy series was axed. |
